miscellaneous

I like things that are fast in general:

  • Mathematics and Physics
  • Sports: running, cycling, swimming(I used to be a competitive swimmer), skiing(beginner), and probably more
  • Formula One: I’m a fan of Charles Leclerc and the Ferrari team. I really admire his driving skills and how he represents Ferrari with such passion and determination.
  • Starship and other rockets

Meanwhile, I am a devoted supporter of Manchester United. Among all the legendary players, Wayne Rooney is my favorite and the one who inspired me the most. He was not only a prolific goal scorer but also an excellent playmaker, capable of dropping deep to link up play and create opportunities for his teammates.

Here’s a glance at some of the other things I’ve been involving in outside of my primary academic focus:

Sports

Outside of the academic world, I have a passion for triathlons. They provide a great way to stay fit and challenge myself physically and mentally. Here are some of my personal bests:

  • Swimming:
    • 50m freestyle: 31ā€40 (4th place of group B at the BISU Swimming Competition, 2021)
    • 200m individual medley: 3’37ā€03 (🄈2nd place of group B at the BISU Swimming Competition, 2022)
  • Cycling: None
  • Running:
    • 1km: 3:23
    • 5km: 19:37
    • Half marathon: 1:53:48

Besides, I’m also a beginner in skiing and diving. In the 16th Beijing Higher Education Skiing Competition, I placed 8th in the Men’s Snowboard Group B. As for diving, I mean the kind that involves jumping or falling into water from a platform or springboard.

Music

I can play the piano and the drums a bit. Although I’m not a professional, I enjoy practicing in my free time, especially when I want to relax or express my emotions through music. I also like to listen to symphonies—they help me unwind and appreciate the beauty of classical music. The rich layers of sound and the emotion behind each piece always inspire me. Music plays an important role in my life, both as a hobby and as a source of comfort.

Games

One of my favorite games is Clash Royale. Beyond the fast-paced strategy, what I enjoy most is the sense of community in the clan system. I have stayed in the same American clan for two years, where members often share everyday stories—buying a car, family news, or small life moments. When someone faces difficulties, others offer encouragement; when something good happens, everyone celebrates together. I once saw a member say goodbye and donate all his cards, and the clan leader replied, ā€œHappy to have known you, bro.ā€ Moments like that make the game feel warm and meaningful.

I am also a fan of the Resident Evil series. What fascinates me is how the franchise continues to evolve while keeping its survival horror core. In Resident Evil Village, players can choose to experience the game in first-person perspective, which makes the horror atmosphere much more immersive and intense. Combined with the latest installment, Resident Evil 9: Requiem, the series continues to push the boundaries of storytelling, world-building, and gameplay design. The mix of exploration, puzzles, and survival mechanics makes Resident Evil one of the most enduring and influential franchises in gaming.

Movies

I especially love Avatar and The Matrix. I’m deeply drawn to the world of Avatar — from the first film to The Way of Water and Fire and Ash. The setting feels incredibly immersive, and the pacing of the story always keeps me engaged. As for The Matrix trilogy, even though the first three films were made over twenty years ago, they still feel timeless today. What I admire most is the way they combine Eastern martial arts-inspired action, futuristic technology, and deeper reflections on society.

Food

I don’t like:

  • Spicy foods
  • Sparkling water / soda
  • Alcoholic drinks
  • Coffee
  • Tea
